Preface
Yeah, I haven’t really played much these past few months, until recently at least. But I’ve got a bit of news and goodies to share now!
Progress
I noticed I was near to the level, so I hit 61 Farming. I think this was still when I was playing Trailblazer so I definitely didn’t do much else around this time.

Some post I’m-done-with-Trailblazer/Path of Exile skilling/slayer led to 96 Ranged. Funny thing about that Snapdragon seed, I misclicked a Hobgoblin and it dropped it. Not the worst scores for a misclick.

In that same time period, I got a Black Dragon task. I decided to show some friends how fun it was to kill KBD at the time, not having access to a reliable source of Antifire Potions. KBD decided to drop a Dragon Medium Helmet, which is a collection log slot for my regions.

After that, I played Path of Exile for a while again. During this period of PoE, the Isle of Souls got an update that added explorable places and slayable monsters.
One monster of note is Blue Dragons. Blue Dragons typically means Blue Dragon Scales. Blue Dragon Scales mean Antifire Potions.
As soon as I could, I set off exploring the island, confirming the existence of the other mobs Jagex said would be on the island, as well as the existence of Blue Dragon Scales. It’s a bit cliche to say this, but this changes everything.
Namely, it makes killing KBD, Brutal Green Dragons, Mithril Dragons, and now Iron/Blue Dragons not a horrendous drain of time and resources, and turns them into more practical training methods. For instance, I’m now more seriously considering training crafting at either Blue or Brutal Green Dragons after I hit 96 Magic, through using Tan Leather and then Spellbook Swapping to the Normal Spellbook and high alching the crafted bodies.
Additionally, in the distant future, it will make Dragon Slayer 2 more feasible to complete.
It also offers some extra protection against PKers in the Wilderness.
And finally, it makes Lantadymes not an actual completely useless herb (sans the experience gained from cleaning them), giving me access to more Herblore experience.
The additional monsters on the Isle of Souls make Slayer more bearable to train too, removing 2 monsters from the un-doable list (Blue Dragons, Iron Dragons) and making 3 more pleasant/quicker to slay (Lesser Demons, Greater Demons, and Fire Giants).
The rest of the island offers a multitude of Maple, Yew, (Having only had access to a single one of each tree previously) and actually harvestable Teak/Mahogany Trees (As well as a method to 2-tick the Teak trees, which will be a hoot to try out), a non-Wilderness 3-Iron spot (for powermining Iron) and Gray Chinchompas.
The Yew and Maple Trees are somewhat close to the bank, making them definitely useful.
The Teak and Mahogany trees are very far from the bank/teleport to the island, so it’ll take some work to figure out if they’re actually worth harvesting for logs for construction training.
The Gray Chinchompas I could probably find a use for (I will still get Black Chinchompas for Kree’arra, I will need all the damage I can get) but I might use them to get the Chinchompa pet because that would be pretty neat.
The Tormented Souls (Basically, Chaos Druid Ghosts) are, well, Chaos Druid Ghosts. That drop elemental Battlestaves. So a potential source of Herbs and Money when I don’t want to kill Kurasks. Whenever I get the Ectoplasmator from Soul Wars, they could be a Prayer training method, too.
And last, and maybe least, are the Isle of Souls and Dark Chests. In addition to having its own minorly useful loot table, the Isle of Soul chest can drop the key to the Dark Chest (aptly named Dark Keys), which has some interesting and useful loot. However, the Isle of Souls chest has a pretty decent chance to teleport you back to the beginning of the Isle of Souls cave, which is a pretty far trek for someone without Graceful or Staminas (me). As such, It’s not really viable or fun for me to hunt for Dark Keys.
After my trial run of just farming the chest, I decided that it’d be better that I look elsewhere for what the Dark Chest offers. However, if I’m doing things in the Isle of Souls cave, I’ll make an effort to keep a Lockpick with me and have a few goes at the chest whenever I finish up with my supplies for that trip in the cave. Could get lucky, you know.
There are also two new Elite Clue steps on the island, slightly increasing my chances of completing an Elite clue.
Lastly for Isle of Soul specific discussion, I still need to grind out Soul Wars for points to imbue my Berserker Ring, and unlock the Soul Wars Cape.
With the addition of Antifire Potions to my regular arsenal, I went around and beat up some dragons. Mithril Dragons are still a chore given their multitude of damage styles and high defence, but they’re much more bearable with one less source of constant damage. Brutal Green Dragons are now a joke and I can’t wait until I have Spellbook Swap to make better use of them.
Blue Dragons are new and weren’t really ever going to be a problem, and Iron Dragons are also new and would have been a pain were it not for the Antifire Potions.
My favorite change came with the KBD.
Though I changed another variable in the test here and made + brought Ranging Potions, I now find paying for the instance to be worthwhile, as I can last for a multitude of kills. This also ensures I won’t get crashed, which was a real problem with the regular cave and my atrociously slow kills. I plan on refining my KBD kills more in the near future.
In general, I’m going to be bringing Ranging Potions to a lot more of my PvM expeditions (that I Range, of course).
The community I’m a part of decided to host a Bingo competition. In hopes that I’d play more and make some progress, I entered it.
One of the tiles involved getting a Brine Saber, so I went and got one. This marks a collection log slot on my goals page, and makes the rare Rock Slug task a bit faster.

One tile involved Slayer, so I did a bit of it and hit 84 Slayer. One level off from the big Sire grind.

I also hit 86 and 87 Attack (on mobile).

While doing more Slayer, I got an Iron Dragon task, and while killing them I got a Dragon Plateskirt, which is an upgrade over the Rockshell Platelegs (Rune tier) I was using.

Another tile involved some skilling, so I hit 62 Runecrafting and 71 Mining while contributing to my team.

Doing more Slayer, I got a Turoth Superior and I finally hit the Superior Drop Table.
Unfortunately, the drop was a Mist Battlestaff, being my third one (the other two came from Waterfiends, previously) so it was pretty useless.

One of the tiles involved getting a shard from the Chaos Fanatic. During my pleasant PKer filled attempts at getting the drop, I made a friend, marking my second pet and first boss pet.

A short while later, I also got a Malediction Shard 1, leaving me with just Scorpia’s shard to complete the Malediction Ward.

I made a quick exception trip to Probita in Ardougne to insure my Heron and the Chaos Elemental Jr., because fuck losing them.
Getting the shard was the last thing I could realistically do for my team, so I went off and did more Slayer, interrupting that with some Herblore training when I got bored.
Cleaning all the grimy herbs I had amassed got me to 73 Herblore, and some additional resource collection got me to 74 Herblore.

74 Herblore allows me to use Greenman’s Ales to boost to 75, and clean Torstols. Having a Torstol in my inventory at all times in anticipation of a Jekyll Random Event will supply me with Stamina Potions, eventually amassing enough (10) to make some of the good pools in my house.
Conveniently enough, not too much longer after that, I got my first Jekyll random and obtained my first Stamina Potion.

After that, I decided that I’m gonna get a Draconic Visage. So I’ve been killing Iron Dragons since then. I’m going to change it up with some KBD here and there, as well.
On a return trip, I hit 76 Thieving on mobile from the Isle of Souls Chest.
I hit 65 Prayer from burying the Dragon Bones.

I hit 97 Hitpoints while killing them as well.

I also got a pair of Dragon Platelegs, increasing my fashionscape choices.

I’m about to hit 97 Ranged as well but I’m not going to delay the posting of this that much longer.
If/When I get the visage, I will have to figure out how I’m going to train to 89 Smithing (+1 boost to 90 with Dwarven Stout) so I can make the Dragonfire Shield, which will be my best in slot melee offhand (and a pretty great tank shield), but it should provide a great deal of motivation to play more. Likely I’ll resume my 99 Attack/Defence grind at Kurasks so I can get money for Blast Furnace ores.
These were my stats at the time of this post
