Progress Log #19: Weeks 40 & 41; March 20 2020

Preface

Path of Exile’s latest expansion released last Friday so I’ve been pretty distracted with that for half of this period.

When I remember to keep my tablet charged, though, I’ve been Barbarian fishing for some passive gains.

Progress

I decided that getting to 1750 Total would be a good goal so I finished off a few levels that were close to being done, and made some plans to knock out others.

I needed more Broad Bolts so I made another 10k, getting 74 Fletching while doing so.

Did some more slayer, hitting 90 Ranged and 78 Slayer.

I used some Wild Pies that I had to boost to 83 Slayer and try to kill some Spiritual Mages for those sweet sweet red slippers but no luck.

I then went and harassed some Eclectic Implings for more Wild Pies and was reminded why I don’t want to grind Implings. I’d initially planned to maybe get a bunch of Implings and try to juggle Medium Clues at some point but I’d probably pull my hair out before getting too many.

I did not end up with too many Wild Pies, so my plan to use them is to wait for 79 or 80 Slayer before trying to boost again, so I have more time to kill more Mages. I’ll use the Slayer’s Respites (+2) at 82, to extend the boost’s usefulness as well.

I was close to a Runecrafting level so I quickly knocked out 56 Runecrafting. I also mined some essence to put my stock at enough to get me to 61 whenever I feel like it.

I’d amassed some Whiteberries from some recent Kurask tasks so I made a bunch of potions to get 67 Herblore.

I wanted to ruin 69 Mining and did so, getting 71 Crafting (And also 1700 Total) from cutting all the gems and then 70 Mining not that long after.

With Path of Exile’s new league launching soon, I started work on a plan to do some AFK/Mobile activities.

As these were all done on mobile, I don’t have screenshots.

I got 90 Fishing, which put me at enough Sharks to get 2 Cooking levels, so I cooked all the food I had, burned a bunch as is tradition, and fished some more Sharks to make up for it and actually hit 86 Cooking.

I then finished off 72 Woodcutting at the Yew tree by Otto.

Using the Yew Logs I’d amassed from that and bosses, and some Bowstrings from training Magic, I hit 76 Fletching by making and stringing Yew Longbows (and making some tipped Adamant Bolts).

I spent a day fiddling around with Brutal Green Dragons, learning a few things:

  • There’s no way to outrange them with anything I have available to me
  • I can get 2 kills per full Prayer Points, maybe 3 but certainly no more, regardless of the food I bring (So I’ve been using the Tuna I’ve had in my bank forever)
  • My Range gear is basically useless so to further secure the 2 kills/trip, I’ve been killing them in Shade Robes
  • It’s currently not worth being on the Lunar Spellbook to cast Tan Leather and craft Green D’hide Bodies during trips due to the previous knowledge, meaning I can stay on the standard spellbook and house teleport after my resources are depleted, pray at my altar and then Games Necklace teleport to Barbarian Assault afterwards, and start over
  • Given the quick-fire trips, I don’t have to wait for the aggro timer, though sometimes I do need to run farther to drop a Waterfiend
  • Brutal Green Dragons also have access to the Gem Drop Table so there’s no way to really know how shit my luck is in regards to getting a Dragonstone from them
  • It’s probably a waste of time to kill these but it’s too damn fun

After Dragon Slayer School, I went and bought a couple thousand feathers and have been trying to Barbarian Fish while playing PoE.

While writing this log, I’ve been selling some junk at Sigmund’s General store and alching the Yew Longbows I made.

Through Kingdom Management, I’ve amassed a bunch of Maple Logs (while going for bird nests), which I will use for Firemaking. Currently I can get from 62 to 83, which will be a nice boost of 21 total levels and about as useful as the skill will ever be.

That’s pretty much the extent of my progress. I’ve made some breakthroughs on the Supercompost/Fertile Soil Farming method, though.

Right now my fastest method of using Fertile Soil on the Trollheim Patch is actually running from the House Portal to the secret entrance to the Troll Stronghold, rather than around the mountain. I don’t know why I didn’t think about that in the first place, considering to get from Rellekka to Trollheim via the mountain paths, you have to walk by the secret entrance anyway.

This also bypasses the need to get the agility requirement for the shortcut, for now.

The next stage of this is still unlocking Slayer Ring crafting, as no matter which path I take to get to the patch while on the Lunar Spellbook, the Slayer Cave teleport will always be closer than the House Portal.

The final, and significantly faster, route is getting 93 Magic, boosting with Wizard Mind Bombs to 96, using Spellbook Swap to cast Trollheim Teleport, and going from there.

I will need the agility shortcut at some point to make this the fastest route possible, but even then, without it, it will be as fast as the non-Fertile Soil route I’ve been used to.

Conveniently, this gives me a clear goal for training Magic.

Also, I’ve mentioned making an exception in regards to the Dragon

weapons from the Heroes’ Guild, being that they once were obtainable via Mysterious Emblems and that avenue no longer exists.

I have decided that I will make the exception to allow the purchase
of those weapons, but I will not do so until I’ve gotten all the
Dagannoth King rings, because those will usher in the next stage of
bossing.

That’s all for now!

These were my stats at the time of this post
